Three years after the attack: indictment against a preacher at Al-Aqsa who praised the terrorist

The Jerusalem District Attorney's Office filed an indictment against a preacher from the Al-Aqsa Mosque, a 52-year-old resident of East Jerusalem, for incitement to terrorism, three years after the attack on the Israel-Egypt border in June 2023. The preacher praised in his Friday sermon the terrorist Muhammad Salah, who murdered three IDF soldiers: Lia Ben Nun, Ori Yitzhak Iluz, and Ohad Dahan.

The Jerusalem District Attorney's Office filed an indictment today (Sunday) against a preacher at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, a 52-year-old resident of East Jerusalem, for incitement to terrorism. According to the indictment, during Friday prayers on the Temple Mount, before dozens of worshippers, he expressed support and praise for Muhammad Salah, who carried out the shooting attack on the Israel-Egypt border in June 2023, in which IDF soldiers Lia Ben Nun, Ori Yitzhak Iluz, and Ohad Dahan fell. The preacher said: "Look at the celebrations all over the world. You reminded us, O Egyptian Muhammad, of Qutuz who united the armies and liberated the Levant, liberated the Al-Aqsa Mosque." He also called on Egyptian soldiers to act for the release of prisoners and Al-Aqsa. At the end of his remarks, he said: "O God, grant us your grace very soon through the Egyptian army that will liberate the country and the people from the desecration of the criminal occupiers." During the sermon, the defendant also attacked the Palestinian Authority.
