Israeli occupation authorities continue to accelerate their settlement plans in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem. A weekly report issued by the National Office for the Defense of Land and Resistance to Settlement stated that the so-called "Higher Planning Council" approved granting authorization for two new settlement plans in Hebron Governorate, comprising 567 settlement units. The first plan (No. 525) includes 342 units in the "Asa'el" settlement on lands of the town of As-Samu', and the second plan (No. 517/4) includes 225 units in the "Beit Hagai" settlement on lands of Ar-Rihiya. In Jerusalem, the associations "Bimkom" and "Ir Amim" filed a legal objection against the "Nof Rachel" plan to build 650 units on lands of the town of Umm Tuba. The objection was based on the fact that the implementing company owns only 65% of the land, not 90% as claimed, a percentage below the legal threshold of 66%. Additionally, 20% of the land remains under legal dispute. The objectors warned that establishing the neighborhood would eliminate a vital traffic artery serving the Palestinian neighborhood.
