The Prime Minister's Office awarded certificates of appreciation to filmmakers Ariel Orbuch, Roy Danino, and Hagai Gutman for their film NAZA, The True Story, which challenges allegations made in the controversial documentary NAZA by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor. National Public Diplomacy Directorate head Tzipi Hotovely presented the awards on Thursday, October 8, 2026. Hotovely praised the film for presenting "Israel's truth and the morality of IDF soldiers" and countering what she called "blood libels and lies" against Israel. The original NAZA documentary, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival on September 10 and won the Special Jury Prize, alleges that the IDF routinely incorporated projections of large numbers of civilian deaths into its targeting decisions during the war in Gaza. The IDF has strongly denied the allegations, stating that it has never planned or approved a strike in which 500 civilians were anticipated to be killed. The competing films have brought renewed attention to allegations concerning the IDF's conduct during the war.
