Iris Haim, the mother of the late Yotam Haim, who was kidnapped to Gaza and mistakenly shot by IDF forces, published a harsh post on her Facebook account today (Saturday) against Maj. Gen. (res.) Nitzan Alon, former head of the Prisoners and Missing Persons Command. She accused him of disregarding critical operational information about the presence of hostages in the area, and of direct responsibility for her son's death. According to her, Alon's department received countless messages, clear signs, and information from soldiers about voices in Hebrew, but he claimed these were Hamas operations. She noted that the hostages left signs reading "3 hostages save us" and SOS, and that a notebook with hostages' handwriting was found but not addressed. Iris attacked Alon for not coming to apologize personally, and accused him of blaming a simple soldier instead of taking responsibility for a serious command failure.
