"You're a terrorist": Demand to strip Harish deputy mayor of youth portfolio
The opposition chairman and the head of the audit committee in Harish have appealed to the Interior Ministry and the Attorney General to intervene, after the deputy mayor from Otzma Yehudit, Moshe Ben Zikri, called a resident a "terrorist" during a protest against a meeting of Yaya Pink. The incident occurred on October 4 outside a private home. The petitioners argue that Ben Zikri's holding of the youth and security portfolios exacerbates the significance of the event.
The opposition chairman on the Harish City Council and the head of the audit committee have appealed to the Interior Ministry and the Attorney General to intervene, after the deputy mayor from Otzma Yehudit, Moshe Ben Zikri, called a resident a "terrorist" during a protest against a meeting of Yaya Pink. The incident occurred on Sunday, October 4, outside a private home in Harish where the meeting was held. According to the appeal, Ben Zikri arrived at the scene accompanied by activists, stood at the entrance of the home, and filmed the participants at close range. The appeal describes shouts of "anti-Semites" and "racists" directed at those present. It further claims that Ben Zikri said: "A person who raises money for terrorists will not be here in Harish," and later stood next to one of the residents and repeatedly hurled at him: "You're a terrorist." The petitioners argue that Ben Zikri's holding of the youth and security portfolios exacerbates the significance of the event, and express concern about escalation and deterring residents from participating in public life due to their opinions. In his response, Ben Zikri described the event as a "legal civil protest in an open public space" and defended his positions. The Harish Municipality stated that the public space is open to political activity in accordance with the law.
