The future of allergy treatment? Engineered immune cells against the disease mechanism

30 Israeli doctors and researchers will present studies at the World Allergy Congress in Kyoto. The focus: treatments for severe asthma, food desensitization, and engineered immune cells. The association secretary noted that fewer than 150 specialists in allergy and clinical immunology practice in Israel.

30 Israeli doctors and researchers are expected to participate in the World Allergy Congress in Kyoto, Japan, next week. They will lead scientific sessions, give lectures, and present research posters. Key topics include tailoring biological treatments for patients with severe asthma, oral immunotherapy for allergies to milk and nuts, and experimental research on engineered CAR-T cells targeting IgE antibodies. Dr. Vered Shichter-Konfino, secretary of the Israeli Association for Allergy, emphasized that the participation reflects the breadth of Israeli activity in the field, and that fewer than 150 specialists in allergy and clinical immunology practice in Israel. Additional studies will address hereditary angioedema, a mutation in the TMX1 gene, and the effect of estrogen on allergic diseases. The congress is held in collaboration with the Japanese Society of Allergology and the Asia-Pacific Organization.
