"A lot of lies": Netanyahu's former secretary reveals new details about October 7
Avi Gil, Netanyahu's former military secretary, gave his first interview in a long time, claiming that the official protocols of the October 7 events may have been altered. He alleges that Netanyahu's chief of staff, Tzachi Braverman, ordered the change of the time of the first phone call between Gil and the prime minister on the morning of October 7. Gil called on a future investigative commission to examine the original recordings.
Avi Gil, the former military secretary to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, spoke publicly for the first time in a long while about the events of October 7, 2023. In an interview with Israel Hayom and Channel 12, he stated that the public has not yet received the full picture of what happened, and that official documents may have been altered. Gil noted that after the attack, he expected to testify before a state commission of inquiry, but such a commission has not yet been established. According to him, over the past three years, too much contradictory information has accumulated around the events of October 7. Gil also addressed the possibility that Israel was warned by Egypt before the Hamas attack. He drew attention to a visit by an Egyptian reconnaissance aircraft to Israel at the end of September 2023. Two weeks after the war began, Gil had questions about the preservation of official protocols. He claims he noticed a large amount of material collected by people from Netanyahu's circle, after which he turned to Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara for clarification. According to Gil, about three months later, a stenographer from the Prime Minister's Office told him that Netanyahu's chief of staff, Tzachi Braverman, allegedly ordered the change of the time of the first phone call between Gil and the prime minister on the morning of October 7. The former military secretary believes that a possible adjustment could have affected the interpretation of the sequence of events. He described the alleged actions as part of a "criminal pattern of behavior." Gil called on a future investigative commission to examine the original recordings, rather than relying solely on written protocols. Likud rejected the allegations, calling the interview part of a politically motivated campaign against Netanyahu.
