Prof. Rafael Barakhan has been appointed as the president of the Holon Institute of Technology (HIT), replacing Prof. Eduard Yakubov, who served in the role since 2013. Barakhan, who served as vice president for innovation, entrepreneurship, and international affairs at the institute, brings to the position extensive academic and managerial experience and familiarity with the fields of medicine, technology, and research. In his new role, he will lead the institute in the coming years, focusing on developing academic and technological fields, strengthening research and innovation, and deepening cooperation between academia and industry. During his tenure, Yakubov led moves to expand the institute's research and applied activities and strengthen its ties with industry and society in Israel, alongside promoting its activities on the international stage. He is expected to remain part of the institute and contribute his experience. The chairman of the HIT board of trustees, Pinchas (Pini) Cohen, welcomed the appointment and expressed confidence that Barakhan will continue the institute's momentum of development.
