National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir released video footage this morning from a visit to a prison in southern Israel, where he is seen confronting face-to-face a terrorist who allegedly plotted to assassinate him. In the video, Ben Gvir tells the terrorist: "You tried to kill me. You picked the wrong minister. I'm not afraid of you or a thousand more like you. And with God's help, we will execute you, and you and those like you. You must die, you must die. You must be killed by a noose in the death penalty." The publication comes against the backdrop of Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara's directive to the Israel Prison Service commissioner, prohibiting the use of prison visits and documentation of meetings with inmates for election propaganda. However, the footage was taken about a month ago, not during a new visit conducted after the directive was issued. The meeting took place amid the policy of tightening conditions for security prisoners that Ben Gvir has been leading since taking office, alongside his efforts to advance the death penalty for terrorists.
