Dylan Daniel, 33, from the town of La Fargeville in New York State, is expected to appear today (Thursday) in federal court in Syracuse for a hearing on his continued detention. Daniel is charged with threatening a federal law enforcement officer, after FBI agents came to question him as part of an investigation into calls made to a Jewish charity. According to documents filed with the court, in one of the calls the caller said: "I would like to kill Benjamin Netanyahu and all the Jews." In additional calls, he said: "I would like to blow up Israel and kill all the Jews," and: "I would like to put all the Jews in a gas chamber and kill them." The Jewish charity, located in Lakewood, New Jersey, received several such calls in May of this year. FBI investigators identified Daniel as the user of the phone number from which the calls were made. On October 7, two FBI agents arrived at his home, and after identifying themselves, Daniel threatened them, saying: "The only good cop is a dead cop." He was arrested on October 8. The charge attributed to him concerns threats against a federal law enforcement officer; the maximum penalty is ten years in prison.
