Elon Musk unveiled the new Tesla Roadster, equipped with thrust engines developed with SpaceX. In a demonstration, it performed a "flip-flack" in the air and landed using the engines. The car accelerates to 60 mph in under a second and reaches 230 mph. Production will begin in 2028.

Elon Musk unveiled last night (Friday) the new version of the Roadster, Tesla's electric sports car, at a special event at the SpaceX test site in McGregor, Texas. In the demonstration, the two-seat vehicle, developed in collaboration with SpaceX, was seen accelerating on a high ramp, performing a "flip-flack" in the air, and landing using special thrust engines. Musk said the Roadster can accelerate to 60 mph in under a second and reach a top speed of about 230 mph. Production is expected to begin in 2028. The order page showed a Performance version with a deposit of $50,000, a Thrust version with a deposit of $250,000, and a single-seat Rocket version with a "full flight system" by personal order. Reuters noted that it is unclear how these features can be used on public roads and whether their use is legal. The headline promises "the flying Tesla," but the body mainly describes short aerial maneuvers.
