Elon Musk has reclaimed the title of trillionaire, after SpaceX shares rose yesterday (Monday, October 5) by 8% and closed at $171.09. His personal net worth is now estimated at $1.046 trillion according to Forbes magazine. Musk became the first person in history with a net worth of one trillion dollars in June, following SpaceX's record-breaking IPO that gave him a valuation of $1.32 trillion, but he lost the title after declines in the weeks following the IPO. The gap between him and those ranked after him on the global rich list has grown significantly: Jeff Bezos is estimated at $371 billion and Sergey Brin at $284 billion. The fluctuations in his net worth stem from his dependence on his holdings in SpaceX and Tesla. Additionally, Musk received at Tesla the most expensive compensation package in U.S. corporate history, approved in August, which could yield him up to one trillion dollars if performance targets are met. According to a report by the AFL-CIO labor federation, Musk earned 2.5 million times more in 2025 than the average Tesla worker.
