"For one more day with you": The letters of bereaved mothers in the Beit She'an exhibit
The "Hishma Koli" installation at the Yad Levanim building in Beit She'an presents nine personal letters written by bereaved mothers to their sons and daughters who have fallen since October 7. The installation, initiated by the Beit She'an Community Center, allows the public to get to know the fallen through their parents' eyes, returning to memories, longing, and simple family moments.
The "Hishma Koli" installation at the Yad Levanim building in Beit She'an presents nine personal letters written by bereaved mothers to their sons and daughters who have fallen since October 7 and during the "Swords of Iron" war. The project, initiated by the Beit She'an Community Center, is intended to mark three years since the war and to give space to the personal memories of the families. Ilanit Ovadia, a community center employee, approached the mothers and asked them to write a personal letter. Alongside the mothers' letters, a joint text by the parents of Yehontan Deutsch is displayed. The letters return to hugs, conversations, and simple moments at home. Iris Ben Shitrit writes to her son Elroi about three nephews born after his fall and about the room that remains as it is. Sarah Schwartz, mother of Segev, writes that she would give up all the commemorations for one more day with him. Rachel Mu'alem, mother of Na'ama, describes how she collects stories and photos to pass on her daughter's light. The installation is on display from October 5 to 8, from 08:30 to 15:00.
