Hostage survivor corrects Avinatan Or: "They were all monsters"
Rom Breslavsky, a former hostage, pushes back against fellow captive Avinatan Or's statement that even after captivity he still believes in the goodness of human nature. Breslavsky says he cannot relate to Or's words, describing every Hamas terrorist he encountered, except for one elderly man, as "monsters." The remarks follow Or's interview on the program "Fact."
Rom Breslavsky, a former hostage, spoke out against the words of his fellow captive Avinatan Or, who said in an interview on the program "Fact" that despite 738 days in Hamas captivity, he still believes in the goodness of human nature. Breslavsky posted on his X (Twitter) account that he listens to his friend but cannot connect to a single word. According to him, "We weren't together, it was me and them. The Jew and the Arabs," and he felt only hatred when a Hamas terrorist looked him in the eyes. Breslavsky corrected Or's remarks about "mutations" that turn out bad, asserting that everyone he saw in Gaza, except for one 60-year-old man, were monsters. He emphasized that the discourse should not be normalized to suggest that Hamas terrorists are even slightly good. The comments reflect a public disagreement between two former hostages over how to relate to the captivity experience and the nature of their captors.
