Heavy rainstorms in Florida flooded the Save the Chimps sanctuary near Fort Pierce, leaving Caleb, a 38-year-old chimpanzee, isolated in deep water. After access roads were blocked and a swamp vehicle broke down, caretakers deployed a dedicated delivery drone that dropped bags of bananas, fresh fruit, and blankets to him. Later, Caleb managed to cross the flooded area using a taut rope, while teams distributed food and medicine to the other approximately 200 chimpanzees. Meanwhile, a small alligator reached the sanctuary's kitchen. The sanctuary, founded in 1997 and having rehabilitated about 350 chimpanzees, issued a call for donations to repair storm damage.
