In the Eisenkot bloc, preparations are underway to repeal the three flagship laws even before the formation of a government. They have approached the legal advisor of the Constitution Committee to examine the fast track for repealing the laws. The plan: establishing special committees and holding marathon discussions immediately after the formation of the organizing committee.
Chairman of the Yashar party, Gadi Eisenkot, is expected to receive the mandate to form the government this evening (Sunday), but the bloc is simultaneously preparing to advance accelerated legislation to repeal three flagship laws even before a government is formed. According to the report, factors in the bloc have approached the legal advisor of the Knesset Constitution Committee to examine the fastest legal and parliamentary route for repealing the laws. The emerging plan includes establishing special committees and holding marathon discussions immediately after the formation of the organizing committee, with the aim of completing within a short time moves that could take months under the regular process. The three main laws on the agenda: the Police Internal Investigations Department Law, the law to change the composition of the Judicial Selection Committee, and the legislation to split the role of the Attorney General. Advancing the move will require coordination with the Arab parties, as without their support the opposition does not have an independent majority.
