Young Religious Zionists and Galilee youth hung about 1,000 Israeli flags overnight along Galilee roads and at the new settlement point near Majd al-Krum, ahead of the Religious Zionism faction meeting to be held there this morning. According to activists, the operation's goal is to express Israeli presence and sovereignty in the Negev and Galilee, as a first step in moving the "settlement revolution" from Judea and Samaria to these areas. The move comes against the backdrop of tensions recorded in recent weeks in the area, following the establishment of a tent compound and infrastructure on JNF land between Majd al-Krum and Gilon. Local residents claimed it was an attempt to establish a Jewish outpost, while those holding the land claimed the compound was intended for sheep grazing. JNF held an emergency meeting and decided to dismantle the temporary structures and move them from the spot. This week, a framework was formulated whereby the grazing compound would be reduced and moved about 400 meters from the friction point, and instead of youth from Judea and Samaria, members of "Hashomer Hachadash" from the Galilee would be stationed. Police are preparing with reinforced forces in the area for fear of disturbances and roadblocks.
