Ayala Yart, a 10-year-old who recovered from leukemia after a prolonged hospitalization at Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital, volunteers every week in the pediatric hemato-oncology ward where she was treated. She arrives on Fridays with her family, distributes hot meals prepared by her mother, talks with the hospitalized children and their families, and shares her personal recovery story. Her parents, Chavi and Shmaryahu, recount the difficult moment when Ayala was diagnosed with leukemia at age four and a half, the full year of intensive hospitalization, and the additional two years of intermittent hospitalization, as well as the ongoing support they received from the medical staff. Dr. Sigal Weinreb, the oncologist who treated Ayala, describes the rare case of leukemia and the recovery. Ayala herself remembers the positive experience and the nurses who sewed her a costume for Purim. Today, she serves as a living example to other children that recovery is possible.
