Border Police officers suspected of stealing a parked car – and abandoning it

Three Border Police officers were questioned yesterday (Wednesday) under caution by the Police Internal Investigations Department (PID) at the State Attorney's Office, on suspicion of stealing a parked car during an operational patrol in the Jerusalem envelope. According to the suspicion, the three noticed a parked car with the keys left inside, and took it without any legal authority. During the drive, they caused damage to nearby vehicles, and later abandoned the car without reporting to their commanders. The car has not yet been located. The investigation is being conducted by the PID Jerusalem team and is ongoing. At the end of the investigation, the three were released under restrictive conditions, including a ban from Israel Police facilities for 15 days. The PID emphasized that these are only suspicions and the officers have not yet been charged. The offenses attributed to them include car theft, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and abuse of power.
