About 1,200 students from three schools in Kadima-Zoran did not attend classes on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. Their parents declared a strike and held a demonstration outside the local council building, protesting the installation of solar systems on school roofs. Parents demand a comprehensive radiation level check in all schools and consideration of alternative locations for the systems. The strike affected the elementary schools "Yigal Alon" and "Nitzanei HaSharon," as well as the middle school "Gvanim." Yoni Tajer, chair of the parents' committee at "Yigal Alon" school, said parents requested permission to bring in an independent specialist to measure radiation levels but could not reach an agreement with the local council. According to him, preliminary measurements in two classrooms showed 5 and 6 milligauss. Parents cite WHO studies on the statistical link between prolonged exposure to magnetic fields at 3–4 milligauss and the risk of childhood leukemia. The local council dismissed the concerns, stating that the safety of the solar installations is beyond doubt.
