Jewish settler extremists attacked Palestinian communities near Hebron and Jerusalem on Monday, wounding several people and setting fire to homes, vehicles, and livestock shelters, according to the Palestinian Authority-controlled WAFA news agency. In the southern West Bank, settlers reportedly attacked homes in Wadi Jheish, near Hebron, damaging property and setting several vehicles on fire. Local activist Osama Makhamreh told WAFA the settlers targeted the home of one Palestinian resident, setting fire to hay surrounding the property and causing additional damage. Another home was also targeted, according to Makhamreh, who said a fire was lit in front of the building and its windows were smashed. In a separate incident near Jerusalem, several Palestinians were reportedly injured when settlers attacked the Ma'azi Jaba Bedouin community near Jaba, northeast of Jerusalem, according to local sources cited by WAFA. The sources alleged that settlers assaulted residents, including women and children, while Israeli security forces were present nearby. Residents called for an ambulance to evacuate at least one person who was wounded, WAFA reported. The Palestinian news agency also said several homes and livestock shelters were set on fire and vehicles were damaged. WAFA's reports accused Israeli security forces of protecting the settlers and failing to intervene during the Ma'azi Jaba incident. The Jerusalem Post has reached out to the IDF for comment.
