Zelensky unveils new weapon: the missile that could reach Moscow

Ukrainian President Zelensky reveals a Russian plan to target civilian infrastructure ahead of winter, and announces an expansion of attacks on energy facilities in Russia. Ukraine is developing a new ballistic missile, the FP-9, which could reach Moscow, while conducting a counteroffensive in Donbas and dealing with Russian jet-powered drones.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in an interview with Reuters, revealed documents indicating a systematic Russian plan to damage civilian infrastructure, aiming to empty Kyiv and other cities ahead of winter. In response, Ukraine will double its attacks on oil refineries and energy facilities in Russia, while avoiding deliberate strikes on civilian targets. This move comes despite a request from US President Donald Trump to refrain from hitting Russian energy facilities. Meanwhile, Ukraine is conducting a successful counteroffensive in the east under the codename "Vivandi," which has liberated about 140 square kilometers in the Donbas region. Zelensky noted that no signal has yet come from Moscow indicating a willingness for peace talks, and warned Washington against illusions that Russia would stop fighting if it takes control of Donbas. On the technological front, Ukraine is dealing with Russian "Shahed" jet-powered drones and has for the first time deployed its domestically produced FP-7 ballistic missile with a range of 250 km. Development of the follow-up model, the FP-9, which could potentially strike Moscow, is being accelerated and is expected to be ready by autumn. Ukraine has also secured $27 billion in funding to cover its defense deficit through 2027.
