Two IDF soldiers were wounded, one seriously and one moderately, on Friday evening after a grenade was improperly thrown during an operational activity in the village of Majdal Zon in southern Lebanon. The soldier who threw the grenade was seriously wounded, and an officer with him was moderately wounded. The two were evacuated for medical treatment at Rambam Hospital in Haifa. The incident occurred around 8:30 PM, as part of an operation by a force from the Gafen Battalion, which includes cadets from the IDF Officer Training School (Bahad 1) operating in the 91st Division area. The IDF is investigating the circumstances, including the throwing technique used by the soldier and the possibility that the grenade hit an object after being thrown, causing the injuries. In a separate incident also on Friday in southern Lebanon, eight IDF soldiers were lightly wounded in an operational traffic accident between two vehicles. The soldiers were evacuated for medical treatment and their families were notified. The circumstances of that incident are also being investigated.
