Security forces launched a widespread operation this morning (Wednesday) to demolish dozens of monuments and incitement symbols erected over the years to glorify terrorists who carried out deadly attacks and murdered civilians and soldiers. The operation was led by the commander of the Judea and Samaria Division, Brig. Gen. Kobi Heller, with forces operating deep in the territory, in Palestinian cities and villages, including Nablus, Jenin, Yabad, and other locations. Among other things, the soldiers destroyed a monument glorifying terrorists for murdering Jews in the center of Nablus, and also demolished the monument to the memory of the terrorist Yasser al-Hamdouni, who murdered Avner Maimon in 2003, erected in the village of Yabad near the murder site. During the operation, the soldiers left a note stating that the IDF will not allow incitement to terrorism and added that anyone who glorifies or supports terrorism will be arrested on charges of incitement. The operational activity is expected to continue and expand in the coming days. The issue came to the fore following a storm caused by MK Zvi Sukkot, who during a tour of Samaria began demolishing a monument to terrorists in the village of Madama. Following the condemnations, Minister Smotrich demanded that Prime Minister Netanyahu demolish the remaining monuments, and determined that they should be demolished only by the IDF.
