Chief of Staff: "The lesson we must learn is that the IDF must always be prepared for a surprise war"

IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir visited the first training exercise of the new Training Division (38) and warned of surprise scenarios, referencing the failures of October 7 and the Yom Kippur War. Separately, a 7-year sentence was handed down to the main defendant in the theft of sound equipment from the Nova festival, and Foreign Minister Sa'ar met with his Paraguayan counterpart, who declared Hamas and the Revolutionary Guards as terrorist organizations.

IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir visited the first training exercise of the new Training Division (38) and stated: "This week we mark 53 years since the Yom Kippur War and three years since October 7—two painful failures, two disasters, with a common thread. The lesson we all must learn from both wars is that the surprise scenario must occupy us all; the IDF must always be prepared for a surprise war." He added: "A commander who does not question and entrenches himself in his concepts will be defeated. Reality signals us constantly, and it is our duty to discern the signals, listen to them, and change continuously." Meanwhile, a 7-year prison sentence was imposed on the main defendant in the theft of sound equipment from the Nova festival, with the judge describing it as "extreme moral depravity." Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar met with the Vice President and Foreign Minister of Paraguay, Rubén Ramírez Lezcano, who thanked Paraguay for its support since October 7. Ramírez Lezcano declared that Paraguay has designated Hamas and Iran's Revolutionary Guards as terrorist organizations and condemned the massacres. Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett visited the Alumim shelter and vowed to the bereaved families to work toward building a worthy state.
