"They shouldn't have to fight the state to recover": Yisrael Beiteinu's plan for wounded IDF soldiers
The Yisrael Beiteinu party has presented a comprehensive rehabilitation plan for wounded IDF and security forces soldiers, promoted by Capt. (res.) Israel Ben Shitrit, who was seriously wounded in Khan Younis. The plan, called "Ongoing Mission," includes a fast track for recognition of wounded soldiers, a personalized rehabilitation program, expansion of mental health services, strengthening the Rehabilitation Department, support for families, housing and employment assistance, and a dedicated track for amputees.
The Yisrael Beiteinu party, led by MK Avigdor Lieberman, presented on Tuesday evening a comprehensive rehabilitation plan for wounded IDF and security forces soldiers. The plan, called "Ongoing Mission," is promoted by Capt. (res.) Israel Ben Shitrit, who was seriously wounded in Khan Younis during the Iron Swords War. The party notes that since October 7, tens of thousands have joined the circle of wounded, necessitating a fundamental change in the rehabilitation approach. The plan's main points include creating a fast track for recognition of operational activity wounded, building a personalized rehabilitation plan for each wounded soldier with a single accompanying liaison, changing the work of medical committees to advance a practical rehabilitation plan, expanding mental health services with early proactive detection of mental injuries and setting maximum waiting times, strengthening the Rehabilitation Department by increasing personnel and resources, expanding support for spouses and children, strengthening the community envelope through local authorities, promoting integration into employment and education, promoting long-term housing solutions, creating a dedicated rehabilitation track for amputees, and promoting medical excellence in the field of trauma and rehabilitation. Ben Shitrit said at the conference: "Those who fought for the state should not have to fight it to recover." Lieberman told Maariv: "Rehabilitating wounded IDF soldiers is a moral obligation."
