The vacation in Eilat ended in surgery: "The dog surprised me and jumped on me"

Gandi, a 70-year-old resident of Haifa, was seriously injured in Eilat after a large dog jumped on him outside a hotel. He underwent surgery to fix a complex fracture in his arm at the Yoseftal Medical Center. He is now calling on the municipality to enforce the issue and keep stray dogs off the streets.

Gandi, a 70-year-old resident of Haifa, was seriously injured in Eilat after a large dog jumped on him outside the hotel where he was staying. He stepped out of the hotel entrance when the dog suddenly jumped at him from the front and knocked him forcefully onto the sidewalk. Following the fall, Gandi suffered a complex fracture in his arm and was taken to the emergency department at the Yoseftal Medical Center in the city. At the hospital Gandi underwent a series of tests, after which it was decided to take him into emergency surgery to fix the fracture in his arm. Dr. Sergey Boykov, director of the orthopedic department at Yoseftal, explained that the team performed surgery for internal fixation of the fracture to allow proper healing of the bone and to prevent future functional damage to the hand. According to him, the surgery was successful and Gandi was released for continued treatment and medical follow-up in his place of residence in the north. Gandi is calling on the Eilat municipality to enforce the issue and keep stray dogs off the streets, after hearing at the hospital about another case in which a girl was nearly hurt by a vehicle while fleeing from a dog.
