The IDF is investigating suspected negligence by commanders in the accident that killed Captain Eliav Chaim Tzaflamos in Lebanon. His family claims the Humvee went on a mission without a second vehicle, contrary to orders, and that communication was lost, leaving the officer trapped under the overturned vehicle for 20-30 minutes. The speed of travel and the cause of the rollover are also being examined.
The IDF is investigating suspected negligence by commanders in the accident that killed Captain Eliav Chaim Tzaflamos in Lebanon. According to the family, the Humvee jeep went on a solo mission, contrary to movement orders in Lebanon that require a minimum of two vehicles. After the vehicle overturned, Captain Eliav was trapped under it for 20 to 30 minutes, and the other soldiers were unable to establish contact due to a communications blackout. The jeep was on its way to Israeli territory to transport soldiers, and the accident occurred on a route near the Litani River in the eastern sector. Several factors are being examined: the speed of travel, whether it exceeded the appropriate speed for road conditions, and whether a stone on the road caused a loss of control. Three other soldiers were lightly injured. In another incident earlier that day, two soldiers were lightly injured from improper use of ammunition.
