He and his accomplices blocked the bus's path, poured flammable material on it, and fired at it with an M-16 rifle. The driver and two soldiers were wounded in the shooting. The bus began to veer and slide toward the roadside, but an officer traveling on it acted to stop it, preventing further harm. The terrorist and his accomplices fled but were later arrested. In addition to the prison sentence, he was given a suspended sentence, a fine of 15,000 shekels, and compensation of 700,000 shekels to the victims. Proceedings against his three accomplices are still ongoing in the military court.
