Amit Bereshdesky (17), a 12th-grade student from Hod HaSharon, was traveling with his family on a three-week trip to Japan. On the return flight to Israel, a Flydubai flight, a hijacker attempted to take over the plane. Bereshdesky sat next to his two younger sisters, Tamar (15) and Mika (12). When the plane began to dive, one of the sisters fainted. Bereshdesky recorded the moments on his phone camera while calming them down, saying it was just "an air pocket." According to him, he was convinced the plane was about to crash and accepted that he was going to die. He sent a farewell message to his family. After the plane stabilized, he realized it was a terror attack attempt. Passengers shouted "Who knows how to fly a plane?", and he thought one of the passengers was flying the plane. The plane landed smoothly in Saudi Arabia. The video went viral worldwide.
