A 20-year-old U.S. Marine, Lance Corporal Devin Jacob Blood, was arrested on suspicion of murdering a local woman in Okinawa, Japan. According to a report by local police spokesperson to the Stars and Stripes newspaper, Blood is suspected of murdering Anna Yagi, 39, at the Naminoue Crystal Hotel in Okinawa. Security cameras recorded him entering the hotel with the woman but leaving alone shortly after. A hotel employee entered the room after the two failed to check out on time and found the victim unconscious. Local police allege that Blood stole Yagi's wallet and bag and murdered her between 2:10 a.m. and 4:17 a.m. on Saturday. Blood was arrested and questioned by police after being seen walking in an entertainment district in Okinawa City. Marine spokesperson Lieutenant Tyler Thomas stated that the U.S. Marine Corps is actively cooperating with Japanese authorities. U.S. Ambassador George Glass noted on his X account that he spoke with the Japanese Foreign Ministry and committed to full cooperation.
