Approximately NIS 5 billion: The massive lawsuit of bereaved families and October 7 massacre victims against the Palestinian Authority

Nearly 900 families of murder victims, victims of hostile acts, and soldiers wounded in combat have filed a massive lawsuit totaling NIS 5.151 billion against the Palestinian Authority, the PLO, and Qadura Fares. The lawsuit, filed in the Jerusalem District Court, alleges that the defendants funded Hamas, participated in planning the attack, and transferred rewards to terrorists.

Days before the third anniversary of the October 7 massacre, a massive lawsuit totaling NIS 5.151 billion was filed in the Jerusalem District Court against the Palestinian Authority, the PLO, and Qadura Fares, the PA Minister for Prisoner Affairs. The lawsuit, on behalf of nearly 900 plaintiffs — families of murder victims, victims of hostile acts, and soldiers wounded in combat — was filed by the law firm Dr. Gideon Fisher & Co. and attorney Mordechai Heller. According to the statement of claim, the defendants funded Hamas, knew about the massacre, took part in its planning, and trained the terrorists. At the heart of the lawsuit is the claim that responsibility does not lie with Hamas alone, and that the defendants "themselves participated in the planning and execution" of the campaign, provided funds and material support, and ratified the campaign through the payment of rewards to terrorists. The lawsuit links the defendants to the establishment of the "joint operations room" in 2018, which included factions of the PLO, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad. The lawsuit joins a previous lawsuit by the firm for NIS 4.5 billion, under which liens totaling NIS 400 million were placed on PA funds, along with international lawsuits in the US against Iran, Syria, and the Binance exchange.
