Reserve Major General Eyal Ben Reuven warns of a "configration" between Jews and Arabs in the Galilee, against the backdrop of a dispute over a compound established near Majd al-Krum. In an interview with Radio North 104.5FM, Ben Reuven claimed that elements in the government, including the Prime Minister, seek to exploit the tension for electoral purposes and to ignite the area. According to him, "The goal is to ignite the Galilee. To create a disaster here." He linked the matter to the election campaign and claimed that some are interested in turning relations between Jews and Arabs in the north into a campaign issue. Ben Reuven also referred to the protests held in the area following the establishment of the compound, noting that at a protest of Arabs, chants of "Palestine" were heard. He accused government ministers of attempting to stoke tension, and said the Prime Minister wants this "more than anyone, because he thinks it is one of his tools to win the elections." The background to the matter is a dispute over a compound established on land within the jurisdiction of Majd al-Krum, near the community of Gilon. According to local reports, the land belongs to KKL-JNF and was allocated for grazing purposes, but residents and the Majd al-Krum council claimed that tents and infrastructure were actually set up there and that part of the land is privately owned. Hundreds of residents of Majd al-Krum protested in the area, and during the events clashes with police were recorded and several protesters were arrested. The structures and tents placed on the site were dismantled or moved to the designated grazing area. Meanwhile, a meeting was held at the Majd al-Krum council with representatives of the Higher Arab Monitoring Committee and the National Committee of Arab Local Authority Heads, along with public figures and politicians. The meeting decided to file a formal complaint with the police on behalf of one of the landowners.
