She was evacuated to Yoseftal Medical Center, where the medical team performed irrigation and antibiotic treatment, and then she underwent surgery under general anesthesia to reconstruct the torn tendon. Dr. Sergei Boikov, director of the Orthopedics Department, described that they saw the girl was unable to move her toe, and they reconstructed the tendon using sutures. Dr. Nassif Assala, director of the Pediatrics Department, explained that it is rare for moray eels to attack, but in the evening hours they approach the rocks, and he recommended that bathers not approach the animals and enter the water only while wearing water shoes. The girl's mother concluded that the incident taught them not to enter the water in reef areas without water shoes. After treatment, her foot was set in a plaster cast and she was discharged home.
