Estherina Tartman, a panelist on Channel 14 and former Knesset member for Yisrael Beiteinu, passed away this morning (Wednesday). Throughout her life, Tartman battled cancer, from which she recovered, and a severe car accident in 1997 that left her with 52% disability. Following the accident, an occupational physician determined she could work no more than 4 hours a day, and she left her job. Tartman served in the 16th and 17th Knessets, chaired the Yisrael Beiteinu faction, and served as deputy chair of the State Control Committee. In her political positions, she supported a hard line against terrorism and opposed 'weakness' towards the Palestinians, viewing Israeli Arabs as a demographic threat. Regarding the appointment of Raleb Majadele as a minister, she said: 'We must eradicate the evil plague from among us.'
