Settlers set up a tent encampment in northern Israel: 260 Jews and Arabs appeal to JNF

260 local leaders and activists, both Jews and Arabs, have appealed to the head of the Jewish National Fund (JNF) to take action against a tent encampment set up by right-wing settler activists on JNF land in northern Israel, near Majd al-Krum. This marks the first instance of a settler outpost being established within Israel proper, rather than in Judea and Samaria.

260 local leaders and activists, both Jews and Arabs, have appealed to the head of the Jewish National Fund (JNF), Eyal Ostrinsky, demanding action against a tent encampment recently erected by right-wing settler activists on JNF land in northern Israel, near the Arab town of Majd al-Krum. This is an unprecedented case: settlers have created an outpost "for sheep grazing" not in the territories of Judea and Samaria, but within Israel itself, in the Western Galilee, approximately 4 kilometers from Karmiel. In their letter to the JNF, residents of northern Israel stated: "This is a test of the principle of the rule of law." They asserted that the JNF bears responsibility for "preventing harm to shared life in the Galilee."
