The Be'er Sheva Magistrate's Court today (Wednesday) sentenced Ram Shahin (34) to seven years in prison, a fine of 60,000 shekels, and compensation of 75,000 shekels to the parents of Matan Lior Mordechai, whose sound equipment he stole on the morning of October 7, 2023, after he was murdered at the Nova festival. Daniel Hasson (30) was sentenced to 40 months in actual prison, and the sentencing of San Lucien Tevel (35) will be given later due to medical circumstances. Shahin was convicted of aggravated theft and aggravated fraud after a legal proceeding; Hasson and Tevel were convicted under a plea deal of aiding theft. Judge Amir Doron wrote in the sentencing that Shahin "cynically exploited the chaos that prevailed at the Nova compound" and chose to take only the expensive sound systems. He described the acts as "extreme moral depravity" and "an outrage at the state's most difficult hour." Sarah, Lior's mother, said: "In my eyes, they are not human beings."
