After the storm: Yinon Magal apologizes on air - "It was a mistake"
Yinon Magal apologized on air on 103FM, less than a day after sparking a storm by calling families of hostages, former captives, and bereaved families "despicable people" and "the lowest people" and suggesting they could "atone" for their participation in a book by voting for Netanyahu. Magal clarified that he intended to exclude the families of the hostages and admitted his mistake.
Yinon Magal apologized this morning (Wednesday) during his show with Ben Caspit on 103FM, less than a day after sparking a public storm. During yesterday's show, Magal read the names of participants in the book "Mr. Abandonment," including families of hostages and the bereaved and former captives, calling them "despicable people" and "the lowest people living in the State of Israel." He claimed that the way they could "atone" for their participation in the book was to vote for Netanyahu in the elections. Among the names he read was Ofri Bibas-Levy, sister of Yarden Bibas and aunt of Ariel and Kfir, may they rest in peace. Magal even said that the Bibas family should apologize to Netanyahu if they "falsely accused him," and later qualified his remarks. Ofri Bibas Levy responded: "The only ones I will ask for forgiveness until the day I die are Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir." In his apology, Magal clarified that he intended to exclude the families of the hostages and admitted he should have made that clear yesterday.
