Saudi Arabia is once again leading a bloc of countries trying to block a US military move against Iran, claims Lt. Col. (res.) Amit Yagur in an opinion piece in Maariv. According to him, alongside Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Pakistan, and Qatar are operating within the 'Old Order Bloc', which seeks to preserve the existing regional order. The article notes that the Saudi defense minister arrived in Tehran this week together with the Pakistani chief of staff and the Turkish intelligence chief, in what is called the 'Mecca Alliance'. In contrast, the UAE and Bahrain refuse to participate in these talks and continue security coordination with the US and Israel. The author claims that Saudi Arabia's conduct is disappointing and contradicts its commitment to normalization with Israel under the Abraham Accords.
