The higher education system announced a new accommodation outline for students serving in reserve duty and regular service for the 2026-2027 academic year, including expanded exam concessions, reduced requirements for excellence scholarships, and assistance for those forced to extend their degree.
The higher education system announced a new accommodation outline for students serving in reserve duty and regular service for the 2026-2027 academic year, against the backdrop of the ongoing war entering its fourth year. The fourth outline since the outbreak of the war expands exam concessions, including alternative assessment for up to three courses for students in the highest eligibility group (Group 3) serving in forward designations, and a 10% reduction in the required credit points for excellence scholarships. Students who were forced to extend their studies will be able to receive accommodations also during the extension period. The outline also addresses graduate students, spouses of service members, and the preservation of class recordings for three months. The CEO of the Council for Higher Education-Planning and Budgeting Committee, Dr. Maya Lugasi Ben Hemo, said the outline was formulated in cooperation with all parties in the system. The chair of the National Union of Israeli Students, Sivan Koren, stated that the responsibility is to ensure students do not pay an academic or professional price.
