Jordanian Security: Automatic Weapons Smuggled by Hot Air Balloons Seized

Jordan's Public Security Directorate announced the seizure of nine automatic firearms and GPS devices inside a bag smuggled by hot air balloons in Karak Governorate. Initial investigations showed the bag arrived from the southern border due to winds. This follows last week's ISIS attack on a funeral in Karak.

Jordan's Public Security Directorate announced the seizure of nine automatic firearms and GPS devices inside a bag smuggled into the kingdom by hot air balloons in Karak Governorate, southern Jordan. The media spokesperson said that the Karak Governorate Police Directorate received a report of a suspicious bag in the Muhy area, where security forces moved and cordoned off the area. After searching the bag, the weapons and devices were found. He explained that initial investigations showed the bag arrived from the southern border due to winds. This comes after last week's massacre by ISIS terrorists who opened fire on citizens during a funeral at a church in the village of Hammoud in Karak Governorate, killing nine people. Jordanian authorities announced the arrest of three gunmen who carried out the attack.
