Political activist recounts assassination attempt inside Jenin police station

Political and human rights activist Mazid Saqf al-Hait recounts the details of an assassination attempt against him inside the Jenin Governorate police station, following a magistrate judge's decision to release him on bail. Saqf al-Hait says three officers assaulted him in what he described as a brutal manner, and the assault lasted over two hours. He adds that they tried to strangle and kill him by filling his mouth with powder of the "dubq" material used for wall tiling, and strangling him with blue nylon wraps. The intervention of the director of the Jenin Governorate police chief's office, Brigadier General Ibrahim Tumar, prevented his death. Saqf al-Hait calls on Major General Allam al-Saqa and the Minister of Interior to open an investigation and hold the attackers accountable. These developments come against the backdrop of a legal case Saqf al-Hait was facing related to his writings and political opinions.
