Eyal Waldman backs Eisenkot, warns Netanyahu win could threaten Israel’s democracy, economy

Israeli hi-tech entrepreneur Eyal Waldman warned that Israel could face serious political and economic consequences if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wins the upcoming election. In an interview with Maariv, Waldman said a Netanyahu victory could lead to a dysfunctional police force, a weakened Supreme Court, and the end of Israeli democracy. He predicted increased emigration of skilled Israelis, with those less able to leave remaining behind, causing the economy to deteriorate. Waldman also expressed concern about long-term developments involving parts of the settler movement and the haredi community, arguing that a change in government is necessary. He endorsed Gadi Eisenkot, leader of the Yashar party, saying he hopes Eisenkot wins the election. Waldman, whose daughter was murdered in the October 7 Nova music festival massacre, said he has received offers to enter politics but would only do so as a last resort to save the country. He also discussed his business activities through Waldo Holdings and his satisfaction with selling Mellanox to Nvidia for $7 billion, noting that Nvidia plans to expand its operations in Israel.
