The Be'er Sheva Magistrate's Court permitted the publication of the name of Efrem Melda (47), a resident of the city, suspected of murdering his wife Anania Kalb (38) in their apartment last week. The publication was made possible at the request of ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth, through attorney Omer Ziv-Ashkar, despite police opposition. According to the suspicion, Melda stabbed his wife to death while their 5-year-old son was in the apartment and even tried to call for help. The suspect called the 100 emergency hotline and reported the murder. His remand was extended by nine days. The police intend to take testimony from the child. The murdered woman also leaves behind two daughters, aged 16 and 22. The eldest daughter said that in the past, police came to the apartment following reports of violence, but the mother refused to file a complaint. She called on women not to stay in a violent environment.
