US immigration agents ran over a man during a chase — after a suspect who died years ago
An ICE agent ran over a construction worker in Texas during a chase after a suspect. It now emerges that the man they were looking for died years ago. The family presented a death certificate, and an investigation has been opened against the offending agent.
An agent of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) ran over a 48-year-old construction worker, Miguel Parra Hernandez, during an arrest operation in Houston, Texas. The incident occurred last Saturday when agents attempted to arrest a man named Jose Mendoza-Cervantes. It now emerges that the man they were looking for, apparently Jose Hector Jimenez, died years ago while trying to enter the United States. His family presented a death certificate issued in Mexico. Security camera footage contradicts ICE's version, which claims Hernandez ran into the vehicle's path. District Attorney Sean Teer is considering filing charges against the offending agent. Hernandez suffers from fractures in his leg and remains in federal custody.
