Police Internal Affairs conducted a warrantless search at Sa'ar Ophir's home: "A blood libel against a fighter"

Associates of fighter Sa'ar Ophir harshly criticized the prosecution and the Police Internal Affairs Department (Mahash) after, according to them, a search was conducted at his home without a warrant, based on intelligence information not disclosed to them. The search yielded no findings. Ophir, accused in the case of killing a Nukhba terrorist, is under house arrest.

Associates of Sa'ar Ophir, a fighter accused in the case of killing a Nukhba terrorist, harshly attacked the prosecution and the Police Internal Affairs Department (Mahash) today (Wednesday). According to them, Mahash conducted a search at Ophir's home without a search warrant, based on "intelligence information" they refused to disclose. The search yielded no findings. In their statement, the associates wrote: "On this cursed day, some mourn, some remember and honor, and there are the prosecution and Mahash who persecute Jewish fighters, who in their eyes are the real enemies." They further claimed that "three years after Sa'ar left his home to fight the Nukhba terrorists, Mahash ordered entry into his home without a warrant to conduct a search." They attacked the authorities' conduct: "It turns out you no longer need to lie to a judge to get a search warrant. You just make up a reason and enter your home. They are above the law." Ophir has been under house arrest since the events. They concluded their statement with the words: "If we were in another country, they would call this anti-Semitism, Nazism, persecution of Jews, and a blood libel." The article quotes only the associates, without a response from Mahash or the prosecution.
