A 48-year-old northern resident has been indicted for brutally beating his 15-year-old daughter because she wore a tank top. The indictment, filed today (Sunday) with the Nazareth Magistrate's Court, charges him with assault of a minor causing actual bodily harm by a person responsible for him, aggravated assault, and intentional property damage. According to the indictment, the incident occurred last month after the father returned to the family home in a community in the Jezreel Valley. When he saw the minor wearing a tank top, he shouted at her, threw objects, and broke a cabinet door. The girl tried to fight him off, and he kicked her leg and pinched her arms. Her brother tried to pull him away without success. When she tried to call the police, the father snatched her cellphone and broke it. Together with her brother, the girl arrived at the Afula police station. Staff Sergeant Orit Turjeman, head of the domestic violence team, described her as crying and distraught with severe signs of injury. The girl said that for years she and her brother had been victims of their father's violence.
