A 49-year-old Brazilian construction worker sold all his possessions and traveled over 1,900 kilometers to meet a woman he met online, only to discover she was an AI-generated character. He was left with no money to return and received assistance from local authorities.

A 49-year-old Brazilian construction worker, Adimar Martins, sold all his possessions and traveled over 1,900 kilometers from northeastern Brazil to Belo Horizonte to meet a woman named Jessica Oliveira, whom he met on social media. The woman presented herself as a farm owner and promised to support her partner. Upon arrival, Martins discovered that the character was created using artificial intelligence and does not exist in reality. He was left with no money to return and received assistance from the local municipality. The account operator, who had about 300,000 followers on TikTok, confirmed that the character was created for sales purposes and denied having a personal relationship with Martins. Despite the disappointment, Martins refuses to give up hope of finding a partner.
