Netanyahu's circle believes: the regime in Iran will not fall through military action

Sources in Netanyahu's circle and the defense establishment believe that military action will not topple the regime in Iran, contrary to Netanyahu's own statements. Trump said no attack is expected today, and mediators from Qatar arrived in Tehran.

Sources close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, along with senior officials in the defense establishment, believe that the path to toppling the regime in Iran does not lie through military action. One source said they do not believe military action can replace the regime, only weaken it. This contradicts Netanyahu's own statements in recent days, where he said the mission must be completed and the Iranian regime toppled within the remaining two years of US President Donald Trump's term. However, about six months ago, Netanyahu said that toppling the regime is a matter for the Iranian people. Earlier today, Trump said no attack on Iran is expected. Meanwhile, it was reported that mediators from Qatar arrived for talks in Tehran. On Saturday evening, it was reported that the Israeli and US militaries prepared for another operation in Iran, the third time in about six months, but the preparation did not culminate in approval of an attack plan. Defense establishment officials expressed reservations about the possibility of an attack before the elections, fearing it would constitute a political move.
