MK Gilad Kariv from the "Democrats" party called for bringing the Palestinian Authority into the Gaza Strip and renewing negotiations with the Palestinians. Kariv spoke at an activist conference organized by the "Israel Shelanu" movement for new immigrants from Russia. According to him, "the only relevant force that can manage Gaza, with the support of the international community and the involvement of moderate Arab states, but ultimately, it is the Palestinian Authority." Kariv added that there should be a reform in the Authority and international pressure on Ramallah, but presented a dilemma: "It's either Hamas and Islamic Jihad or the Palestinian Authority."
